Danielle Smith '15

After graduating from Dartmouth with a double major in German & Russian in 2015, I completed Dartmouth's Comparative Literature master's program and wrote a thesis about the smuggling and translation of samizdat poetry (self-published illegal works) from the Soviet Union to the West by way of Germany. After graduating from this program, I moved to Austin, TX and starting working in the tech industry. I got a job working in the legal department at Indeed.com, partially due to my language skills. I occasionally got to use my Russian when working on Russian client contracts. My German got a bit more use as Germany was a significant market for us. In the spring of 2019, my husband and I decided to move back to New Hampshire. We now live in the White Mountains in Jefferson, NH and couldn't be happier with that decision. After our move, I started remotely for another tech company, a start-up called Inflection.com. My current position is Compliance Specialist in the legal department. I work with our product & engineering, marketing, and operations teams to make sure our company stays compliant with the law throughout the US and abroad. I was recently accepted to the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law's Hybrid JD program, which is a remote, part-time JD program, so I can transition into an attorney role while continuing to work at my current company. I will graduate at the end of 2023!age and culture.
