Author of an important book on Soviet labor camps under Stalin, Golfo Alexopoulos (History, University of South Florida) will discuss her new research project, which examines the threads that connect 20th century Soviet and 21st century Russian authoritarianism, especially in the dis/information space.

The Ukraine war has raised fresh questions about the surprising continuities between Stalinism and Putinism, which Alexopoulos will address.

This event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by the Political Economy Project and the Russian Studies department.
