Golfo Alexopoulos (South Florida), Monday, May 1, 5:00 pm.
Author of an important book on Soviet mental health policy under Stalin, Alexopoulos (associate professor of history at the University of South Florida) will discuss her new research project, which examines the threads that connect 20th-century Soviet and 21st-century Russian authoritarianism, especially in the dis/information space. What are the continuities? The discontinuities? How does the Soviet past help us understand the present Putin regime?
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
